Austin Green Master Plan
Texas ASLA Planning and Analysis Merritt Award, 2020

PROJECT CATEGORY: Planning and Analysis
PROJECT STATEMENT: Eight miles from downtown Austin, the plan envisions a walkable mixed use community on 2,126 acres. Forty percent of the site will be dedicated to parks and open space. The remaining 1,268 acres will be home to nearly 30,000 people and major employers. The plan resolves challenges such as flooding and parkland deficiency, strengthens ecological function, and includes an affordable jobs to housing balance.
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT: Lionheart
ROLE OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT : The landscape architect led the team through the master planning, design stakeholder engagement, and entitlement efforts. The consultant team included civil engineers, ecologists, geotechnical-scientists, law, market analysts, and transportation engineers, for which the landscape architect collaborated with throughout the entire process.
CLIENT: GroundWork Development
ENGINEER: Kimley Horn
ROLE OF ENGINEER: The civil engineer worked hand in hand with the lead consultant to create stormwater management strategies, utilities and infrastructure plans, cost estimating and assisted in the entitlements. The civil engineer led the water district application, which triggers the MUD Consent Agreement with the City of Austin.
